Chimney Safety & CO Testing
Carbon Monoxide & Chimney Safety — What You Need to Know
Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from faulty heating appliances is a genuine risk in Australian homes. CO is produced when wood, gas or other fuels don’t burn completely — and if your flue is blocked, cracked, or poorly maintained, CO can spill into your living space instead of venting safely outside.
Symptoms of CO exposure include headaches, dizziness, nausea and fatigue — often mistaken for a cold or flu. In higher concentrations, it can be fatal. The risk is particularly high in older homes with deteriorated flue systems, or in homes where a fireplace or wood heater hasn’t been serviced for several years.
Webby’s carries professional CO testing equipment and can assess your flue system for CO risk as part of any service visit. We’ll also check for blockages, cracked flue liners, poor draft, and other conditions that increase CO risk.
If you have a CO alarm that has activated, or you’re concerned about your flue system, contact us promptly. We service all of Central Victoria including Bendigo, Echuca, Macedon Ranges, Castlemaine, Kyneton, Woodend, Gisborne and surrounds.
